I’ve been known to say “hairball cat food” a lot. Hairball cat food is basically cat hair mixed with cat food in the most disgusting way possible. It’s also a great way to add a little extra variety to your cat’s diet, if you’re still worried about her eating those bad things.

I mean, I know cats have been known to eat cat food for a long time, but if it is cat hair in a can, then it probably takes a lot more effort for a cat to eat than to eat cat food.

But I have never really given it a serious thought until this. In truth, the only reason I can think of is that they like it.

The theory goes that cats and dogs share similar digestive systems and therefore the hair will be digested and excreted by the same digestive system. This theory is backed by the fact that the hair is not found in the digestive system of cats, but instead is excreted with urine.
